Getting Injured Sucks

Have you ever thought about what would happen if you got injured at training?

Is it?

  1. You can't run. You become a stationary bike enthusiast?

  2. You become sad. You miss running. You join the volunteer roster at parkrun?

  3. It costs you a packet in physio and medical costs?

It could be all of the above. But part of your club fees include a personal injury insurance, that can cover some costs of a serious injury. This is one very good reason to keep your membership up to date.

On our very first training session of 2021, I sprained my ankle. During high knees warm up drills, I landed heavily on some uneven ground, and for those who saw it, I am sorry. It was dramatic. I am told it gave off an audible snapping sound, and later they told me that our fearless Captain, 'El Presidente,' turned a pale shade of grey. Within seconds my ankle blew up and I knew it was serious.

So far I have paid for lots of physio, an MRI ($300!!!) As well as medicine, bandages, crutches, and loose ends for my new stationary bike hobby. My insurance claim was approved which covers the big costs - it has already paid out $600 with a few more weeks of physio to come.

Like all things insurance you never feel like you need it until you do. If you have let your membership lapse, or are questioning the value of paying to run with our club, just don't. It's worth it. And who wouldn't want to be a part of such a fantastic team anyway!

Become a member today and make sure you are covered for any running related injuries.
